We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the late Mr. Yuen Man Ying on August 31.
The late Mr. Yuen led the tourism and travel industry in Hong Kong for over 30 years and played a pioneering role in the field of travel from Hong Kong to Japan. In particular, he promoted the diversification of tour products to Japan and made great efforts to attract charter flights to regional airports, thereby making a significant contribution to the dramatic increase in the number of visitors to Japan from Hong Kong.
Furthermore, immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, he was among the first in the global travel industry to resume tours to Japan, playing an extremely important role in both supporting the recovery of the affected areas and promoting tourism.
The Japan Tourism Agency expresses its heartfelt appreciation for Mr. Yuen’s many years of dedicated efforts and conveys its deep respect for his contributions to the promotion of travel to Japan.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and pray from the bottom of our hearts for the peaceful repose of the late Mr. Yuen.
